In-Clinic Psychology: CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in Adelaide

When anxious thought patterns keep repeating, CBT gives you a structured way to interrupt them. Our registered psychologists deliver CBT in person at our Adelaide clinic, working from what’s actually driving your anxiety or low mood, not a generalised protocol.

Why Our Approach to CBT Is Different

Why Our Approach to CBT Is Different

CBT only works when it’s applied to what’s actually driving your anxiety or low mood, not a generalised protocol. Our psychologists take the time to understand your patterns before mapping out an approach built around them. So, you work with the same psychologist from your first session onward, tracking what’s genuinely changing rather than repeating the same structure regardless of outcome.

CBT Benefits

How Cognitive Behaviour Therapy Works

When thoughts, emotions, or behaviours start affecting your relationships, work, or daily life, therapy can help you regain control. CBT is one of the most researched psychological approaches, built on how your thinking shapes how you feel and act.

Unlike approaches focused mainly on the past, CBT is practical and goal-oriented; you leave each session with something concrete to apply straight away.

A CBT Session Can Help You:

Structured Psychological Care

CBT, Delivered With Consistency

CBT relies on consistency, regular sessions, and structured practice between them. Meeting in person, at the same clinic, with the same psychologist, helps keep that rhythm intact from week to week.

Every session follows the same clinical structure and rigour; whether you’re working through your first assessment or your twelfth review, the standard of care doesn’t change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to what people usually want to know before booking their first CBT session with Elyséa HEALTH’s psychologist.

Do I need a referral to book a CBT session?

No. You can book a CBT session directly with one of our psychologists, without a GP referral. A referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan are only needed if you’d like to claim a Medicare rebate.

CBT is well suited to anxiety, low mood, stress and unhelpful thinking patterns, though it isn’t the only approach our psychologists offer. Your psychologist will assess your situation in your first session and recommend the most appropriate approach.

This varies from person to person, depending on what you’re working through and how you respond to treatment. Your psychologist will discuss an expected timeframe after your initial assessment.

All CBT sessions at Elyséa HEALTH are delivered in person at our Fullarton clinic in Adelaide.
